Thanks, Anoop. In reply to AnoopRamakrishna’s post on January 21, So one thing that seems to help reduce the delay significantly is turning off the reading pane. The last time I tried it, I think I didn’t realize it, but the delay is actually imperceptible now.

I can live without the reading pane, but I would really appreciate it if someone had a clue what might be going on with the reading pane being on causing so much delay. In reply to Revelationnow’s post on January 23, Wow, disabling the reading pane makes a huge difference!

I did not know that’s the cause of delay. My disk is a SSD and with reading pane on it takes seconds to change folder, which is lower than yours but still sucks, since I work with Outlook the whole day. Disabling reading pane reduces to 1 second. Running in safe mode does not eliminate the issue. So I guess it takes seconds to you because your disk – although great – is way slower than a SSD. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t take so long for me or you – 5 seconds to change folder is too much.

I believe there’s an issue with the reading pane in Outlook because if I double click a message to open it in a new window, it happens instantly. If I change between messages, inside the same folder and with reading pane on, it takes 2 seconds – that’s also too much!

I have Office Home Premium with Windows 8. Adam Powers. I had the same issue. It was a “HivePoint” addon from my work. Try disabling addons. Enforcer Drive. This is spot on. In my case outlook.
